Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Announces Schedule Changes

Corona, CA (January 5, 2009) – The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series officials have announced a few changes to the 2009 tour schedule. LOLMDS officials have been in contact with the promoters of Tri-City Speedway and Brownstown Speedway in regards to the “Colossal 100” at The Dirt Track @ Lowe’s Motor Speedway. The series has the best interest of the promoters and competitors in mind and Brownstown Speedway has opted to move the “Indiana Icebreaker” from its traditional weekend to Saturday Night March 21st. The series has sanctioned this event at the Legendary Brownstown Speedway since it’s beginning in 2005. The “Indiana Icebreaker” has become a must see event and is best known for being the season opener in the northern part of the country.

“We were told by the staff at Lowes Motor Speedway that they would continue to use their mid-April date as normally scheduled, prior to the release of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series ’09 schedule,” stated Series Director, Ritchie Lewis; “since then, we found out that Lowes Motor Speedway had other scheduling conflicts that caused them to move their event off of its traditional weekend.”

Tri-City Speedway in Pontoon Beach, Illinois had originally scheduled a Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned event for March 27th. After the recent scheduling conflicts, the Gundaker family and Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series officials have chosen not to run the March 27th scheduled event. Tri-City Speedway will instead host its regular season opener on March 27th. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series is again very proud to be making its annual visit to the St. Louis area speedway on July 17th for the $10,000 to win event, which will again be taped live in front of the SPEED High-Def cameras. This event is in conjunction with the “Nationwide” races at Gateway International Speedway and will be a definite crowd pleaser. The fans get the best dirt racers in the country and the best “Nationwide” drivers in the country for a great mid-summer event.

The final schedule announcement isn’t a date change, but rather a venue change. Long time racer and promoter Johnny Stokes has announced that he will promote his LOLMDS event across town from the traditional Columbus Speedway. Stokes, in 2009 will take the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series to the beautiful Magnolia Motor Speedway which will host a $10,000 to win main event on Saturday Night July 11th. This inaugural event is a must see. The cameras of SPEED will also be on hand for the event, capturing all the exciting racing action in High Definition.

“We realize that our schedule needs to be out for everyone to look at as soon as they can so they can plan vacation time from work and to make their travel arrangements around our races,” stated Series Project Manager Rick Schwallie. “We worked hard to pre-plan our schedule and we made contact with numerous promoters so we could release our schedule in early October. Since its release, we are making a few tweaks to accommodate our promoters and competitors”.

The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will kick off the ambitious 2009 campaign at the 33rd Annual DART Winternationals February 2 – 7, 2009. The weeklong late model extravaganza marks the fifth year in a row that the series has started the season at East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, Florida.
