Wednesday Washout at Indy

SPEEDWAY, IN: At approximately 3:15 PM, a series of rain showers, which started just minutes before practice was to begin at noon, forced Speedway officials to wave the checkered flag on Wednesday’s track activities, without the turning of a single wheel.

Apparently, the weather system which kept the Speedway closed today will linger through Thursday. The good news, however, is that things should clear up for “Fast Friday”. The Pole Day forecast calls for a high of 68, and only a 20% chance of-you-know-what.

In Central Indiana, May is probably the most unstable weather month of the entire year.

As we all know, the Indianapolis 500 is one of world’s mostraditionon-based events. Since 1911, the Race has always been run on Memorial Day. But, after personally spending the last 52 years ducking raindrops at this place, it sure would be nice to see them move the whole thing to June!

Yeah…right…
