I have always loved going to Watkins Glen, since my very first trip there for the US Grand Prix in 1971. The place is hallowed ground, populated by the ghosts of racers past and remembrances of heroic deeds and actions, both past and present.
This photo album captures some of the competition from the IMSA Sahlen’s 6 Hours of the Glen in 2019 – from practice in the rain to the race itself in sunshine, which proved to be historic as it was the first win for Joest Team Mazda.
This year’s race was round three in the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup, which encompasses four endurance races as part of the overall WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. The Rolex 24 at Daytona was round one, followed by the Mobil 1 12 Hours of Sebring, then the Watkins Glen event, with the championship wrapping up at the Motul Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta in October.

Jack Webster has been shooting motorsports since the early 1970’s, covering Formula One, CanAm, F5000, TransAm, GrandAm and American Le Mans races, among others. In addition to his photography, he has also worked on racing teams, both in IMSA and IndyCar, so has a complete knowledge of the inner workings of motorsport. Both his photography and writing can be seen here on racingnation.com
