Toro Rosso Launches STR 7 In Spain

JEREZ, Spain- After witnessing the early morning hours of February 6 th , the launches of both Red Bull Racing’s RB8 and the Sauber C31 challengers for 2012, Team Toro Rosso debuted their version of their formula one race car later in the afternoon, with the STR 7, to become the eighth team to launch their entry since January 26th.

For this team under the Red Bull sponsor, like Lotus, have two brand new drivers that can hopefully put a surprise to their opponents this season.

Daniel Riccardo has already tasted some F1 experience by driving for the HRT team and with his experience as well as a tester for the senior Red Bull Racing squad; the Australian now has an improved car that can give him perhaps the best results of his career. On the other hand, Jean-Eric Vergne becomes the first French driver since Sebastian Bordais to get his feet wet in the STR 7, and the Parisian has already impressed the Red Bull team in last year’s young driver test last fall in Abu Dhabi.

As far as the design of the car, the trend of having a stepped front nose continues on this car as well, but the team remains committed to the double floor concept that they used last year.

Despite two brand new pilots, team manager Franz Tost has confidence in both drivers for this season.

“I hope that we have designed a good car and I am convinced we have two good drivers,” Tost said. “I’m also convinced that we will have a successful season.” “In terms of resources, as far as I can estimate and in comparison to the other teams, we are in the good midfield, and we expect that we are in seventh position and this is also the position I expect to reach in the constructors’ championship.” Riccardo expected to be the first driver to be in the car in the opening day of testing at this Spanish circuit
