Daytona Beach, Fla. – Six hours into the 54th running of the Rolex24 at Daytona, the Michael Shank Racing Ligier Honda led the field. A. J. Allmendinger was behind the wheel at the time. Running second was the Whelen Chevrolet with Jonny Adam driving. Third was one of two Chip Ganassi Racing Ford Prototypes with Brendon Hartley in the cockpit.
Dominating the early race action was the sleek Delta Wing driven by Katherine Legge. Unfortunately, it crashed out of race when Andy Meyrick rammed into a stalled car. The second Ganassi Prototype then swapped the lead with the Shank entry.
In the GTLM class, a pair of factory Porsches led the way.
A new Lamborghini Huracan held the lead in the GTD class.
In the PC Challenge class, Ricardo Vera held the lead.
