Schatz Romps At Volusia

Barberville, FL – Donnie Schatz romped for the second time in three nights of World of Outlaws action at Volusia Speedway Park. Starting fourth, the reigning WoO champion bolted into the lead on the fifth lap and never looked back en route to the 90th WoO feature win of his brilliant career.

The winner earned $10,000 for the 30-lap feature win, which was viewed by a capacity crowd.
Including the three All Star Circuit of Champions and the three WoO features, Schatz scorched the track, winning four of the six nights of racing.

“This car was awesome all week and we just keep working on it, which leads to performances like that,” Schatz said in victory lane. “Traffic wasn’t too difficult. When the cushion is out there, you can get all over the place, which is when you see good racing. You can’t do much better than this. My guys expected six wins, so I guess I lost two for them.”

Schatz drove the Armor-All/Chevrolet/Parker Stores/Tony Stewart Racing J&J car.

Stevie Smith came from seventh to second place within 10 laps but could not reel in the leader “The race track was wide and allowed for passing,” Smith said. “I didn’t get to the front soon enough. Donnie’s been working good, so it would have been hard to beat him.”

Third place went to Chad Kemenah. “We are pretty happy, and it says a lot for our team and our new crew chief,” he said. “Everything seems to be going well for us. Everyone wants to win, and the fans are seeing some good racing.”

Fast qualifier Daryn Pittman came from 11th to end up in fourth followed by WoO multi-time champion Steve Kinser. The renowned driver started in the back and hurdled through the field, picking off car after car for the strong finish.

Kraig Kinser persevered for sixth place, and he was trailed by Terry McCarl, Jason Meyers, 16-year old Cale Conley and Craig Dollansky.

Sunday’s race concluded six nights of winged sprint-car action, but the 39th Alltel DIRTcar Nationals by UNOH continues for another week.

Jaret Landers won $5,000 for the 30-lap UMP DIRTcar modified win. He hails from Batesville, Ark., and he’s sponsored by Mark Martin Ford.
