Elkhart Lake, WI – The last time that Alexander Rossi scored a victory in the NTT IndyCar Series was in 2019 at Road America, 45 races ago.
On Friday, Rossi took a step towards getting back to the top of the podium as he led the opening practice session for the Sonsio Grand Prix at Road America.
Rossi topped the speed chart with a lap of 1:45.6027 (136.837 mph), .1334 seconds quicker than Andretti Autosport teammate Colton Herta.
Rounding out the top five in practice speeds were Indy 500 champion Marcus Ericsson, Team Penske’s Will Power and defending race winner and 2021 season champion Alex Palou.
Coming up tomorrow is the second practice session of the weekend, qualifying and the Firestone Fast 6 and then a final practice session in the afternoon.
On Sunday at 11:55am CST the green flag will fly for the 55 lap Sonsio Grand Prix.
