Ross Kenseth Outduels Augie Grill To Win Night Of Stars 100
- Updated: July 26, 2013
Clermont, Ind., July 26-Ross Kenseth and Augie Grill staged a battle for the ages Friday evening in the Night of Stars 100 ARCA/CRA Super Series event at the Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis before Kenseth prevailed to capture the victory when Grill spun with five laps to go.
Kenseth raced to the lead on lap 19 by powering to the inside of Boris Jurkovic and then ran the outside groove as Grill advanced into second and began to challenge for the top spot. Grill was able to pull alongside Kenseth numerous times but each instance, Kenseth maintained a strong run off the high side to power past down the straightaways. The intense battle between the two climaxed with five laps to go when Grill spun in turn two while racing alongside in a bid for the lead. Kenseth then held onto the lead during the five lap sprint to the finish that followed, taking the victory ahead of Terry Fisher Jr. and Brian Campbell. Tommy St. John finished a strong fourth and Austin Therault rounded out the top five in fifth. Grill was forced to settle for a 14th place finish after his late race mishap.
