Power Rankings – Las Vegas Motor Speedway

A cookie-cutter debut is on tap for the COT at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Spring training for the Sprint Cup Series was held here recently but now it is time to race in Sin City. Here is how we see the Sprint Cup racers running this weekend.

The RacingNation.com Power Rankings tells you who we think will be burning up the track. Feel free to let us know your thoughts, send us an email.

RacingNation.com Power Rankings
Jimmie Johnson ? A strong showing at California and the last three wins at Las Vegas puts Jimmie on top.

Kyle Busch ? Is there anyone that is hotter than Kyle Busch in any series right now? Just think if he would decide to run in the IndyCar Series too.

Matt Kenseth ? Always strong is Las Vegas, Kenseth must be considered a contender.

Tony Stewart ? Can he keep up with his teammate? You know Stewart wants that first Toyota win.

Carl Edwards ? Why was he not on the list last week? Oops. He’ll not be missed at Vegas, he’ll be at or near the front.

Jeff Gordon ? A top five at California puts him just outside the Chase For The NEXTEL Cup. Yes, NEXTEL, at least that is what it says in the point standings on NASCAR.com.

Ryan Newman ? Newman continues his strong start heading to a good track for him. Now he needs a Pole win and the Rocketman will be back.

Denny Hamlin ? Denny will have vengance on his mind after getting a bad hand delt to him at California.

Kasey Kahne – Used to be awesome on the mile and a half tracks. This week will tell if the old Kasy is back.

Greg Biffle ? Vegas could become a Roush-Fenway playground. Look for Biffle to be in the top ten with Kenseth and Edwards.

Martin Truex Jr. ? A nice start to the season should continue for Truex.

Brian Vickers ? If he can get in the race, he will be one to contend with. But again, he needs to get in.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. ? He’ll put wet California behind him with a hot run in Vegas.

Jeff Burton ? Burton could contend for victory lane in Vegas. Or, he could languish in the top 20. Watch where he qualifies.

Jamie McMurray ? OK, this week Jamie will be looking for a top 15 run.
