PASS Will Light Up The Night At North Wilkesboro

NAPLES ME (10/29) Pro All Stars Series (PASS) President Tom Mayberry announced today that the April 9 2011 $75,000.00 to win PASS 300 at the historic North Wilkesboro Speedway will begin at dusk and take the checkered flag under the lights. The event marks the first time that the storied race track has hosted night racing.

“We’re pleased and excited that PASS will be able to bring night racing to North Wilkesboro for the first time,” said Mayberry.” There’s nothing like short track racing under the lights and we’ve done our homework to insure that the speedway will be properly lit for both our competitors and fans. With over $150,000.00 on the line for the super late models alone this is already a “can’t miss” race, but lighting the speedway for the first time will add a whole new dimension to the competition.”

Saturday’s PASS super late model 300, will take the green at 6:00 PM and the field will take the checkers after dark. Mayberry feels that practice will be the key to North Wilkesboro success. “We’ve built plenty of practice time into both our Thursday and Friday schedules so our competitors will have ample opportunity to see how the track reacts during the day, the early evening and under the lights. Those teams that figure out the best way to transition from dusk to darkness will be up front at the end of the evening.”

Thursday April 7’s schedule begins with a noon time hauler parade through down town North Wilkesboro, and a four hour practice from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Friday April 8’s action kicks off at noon with another four hour on track session followed by PASS super late model time trials will lock in the top fifteen starters at 5:00 P.M. Modified time trials go green at 6:30 PM and a series of 20 lap super late model qualifying races under the lights will follow.

On race day Saturday April 9 there’s practice from noon until 1:15 PM, then at 2:00 PM there are two forty lap super late model last chance qualifiers for THE RACE. The tour type mods will roll off at 3:30 PM for 100 laps of modified madness with $5,000.00 on the line for the win, and when the smoke clears the PASS super late models will stage on the front stretch for pre-race ceremonies. THE RACE at Historic North Wilkesboro will take the green at 6:00 PM.
