Nunez to Host Karting Enduro to Raise Distracted Driving Awareness

Tristan Nunez, founder of the “Dnt txt n drV Foundation,” has joined forces with South Florida-based Xtreme Action Park to host a karting enduro, looking to raise funds and awareness to prevent distracted driving.

The 19-year-old driver for Mazda in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship will host the “Fast and Focused” karting enduro on Sunday, Nov. 15, at Xtreme Action Park on 5300 Powerline Road in Fort Lauderdale. Individual drivers, as well as teams of four, will compete at the indoor race track. Attendees can enter to win prizes, while enjoying free food and beverages.

Xtreme Action Park is family entertainment venue featuring an indoor karting track that has recently gone under a complete renovation and is now offering bowling, a ropes course, restaurant, Hershey’s Ice Cream Shake Shoppe and sports bar, as well as their new 5,000 square foot event space where Nunez’s fundraiser will be hosted.

“We’re so thrilled to be teaming up with Tristan Nunez,” said Elizabeth Sommerfeld, Marketing Director Xtreme Action Park. “Not only is he an amazing talent and from our home-state of Florida, but he shares our commitment for putting an end to distracted driving.”

In addition to partnering with the venue, Nunez also appears in the safety video new go kart drivers must watch before getting behind the wheel at the venue.

“Having Xtreme Action Park as our safety partner is especially cool,” said Nunez, “because it’s actually the first place I drove a go-kart, at age 11. This place is amazing and it sparked my love of racing.”

Nunez also kicked off the recent National Teen Safety Week in Washington, D.C., giving the keynote address on the dangers of distracted driving.
