New Monthly Dirt Late Model Magazine To Debut In November

Murphy, NC — Dirt track racing’s newest and most creative glossy racing publication-Late Model Illustrated-will debut in mid-November and be distributed at the annual Performance Racing Industry Trade Show in Orlando, Fla. The magazine-style format will focus solely on the dirt Late Model community and feature creative layout, plenty of eye-popping color, superb photography and original writing from many of the same people whose excellent work you’ve enjoyed over the past decade.

The publication will be headed by Brian and Carolyn McLeod of McLeod Media L.L.C., the owners and publishers of National Dirt Digest. Personal health issues forced the duo to close their popular NDD newsprint publication last October, but the pair have returned to the sport and will be joined by full-time editor Tim Lee and art director Susan Bauer Lee in the new endeavor. Monthly columnists will include Lee, McLeod, Paul Fletcher and Todd Turner, among others.

All customers who had current subscriptions to NDD last October will automatically receive the new magazine. All subscriptions will be fulfilled based on whatever length of time was remaining on a customer’s subscription, according to the McLeods.

“It’s extremely unfortunate what happened to National Dirt Digest and it was definitely related to personal health problems,” Brian McLeod said. “We sincerely apologize to our customers and the racing industry for our business difficulties, and we will return and do the best we can to make this up to everybody. We believe Late Model Illustrated will be a great addition to the sport, and we do plan to honor all subscriptions to NDD that were current in Oct. ’07 at the time of our final shutdown.

“We still have all of our mailing list records, but we do need as many customers as possible to update their addresses if they’ve moved in the past year,” McLeod said. “That can be done immediately on our LMI website, which can be accessed at www.latemodelillustrated.com starting Oct. 1. Much of our website is still under construction, but there’s a page for address changes and it’s currently active for our customers who wish to update their mailing address using that method. It can also be accomplished via telephone at (828) 837-1353. Customers who wish to use the mail service for address changes can mail them to P.O. Box 340, Murphy, N.C., 28906. ”

LMI will be printed monthly and will take NDD’s reputation for race coverage and mix it with feature stories, tech articles, new products, columns and other interesting items that will make this publication a must read for anyone who enjoys or participates in Late Model racing.

“The first issue will reach mailboxes in mid-November and we feel certain that people will enjoy this publication,” McLeod said. “Again, we offer our apologies and we sincerely hope this new magazine will help alleviate some of the frustration our customers have expressed to us.”

As a good-faith gesture, past NDD customers who receive a renewal notice in the mail for LMI and elect to renew their subscription will receive four bonus issues to LMI, along with their one-year (12 issues, $30) subscription to the magazine.

“Customers eligible for the four bonus issues will be the same ones who had current NDD subscriptions last October,” McLeod said. “When they renew, we’ll send them 16 issues instead of 12. We want to do whatever we can to make this up to people and to let them know we’re back and stronger than ever. The four bonus issues will hopefully make people aware that we’re trying very hard and doing our best. We never intended for this to happen and we’ll work tirelessly to correct any problems.”

Also, any checks and/or money orders that were sent to us after Oct. 1, 2007 were not cashed by our company and will be returned to the customer very soon with a letter of explanation and a new opportunity to subscribe to Late Model Illustrated. Brand new customers interested in the magazine may also subscribe for $30 per year (12 issues) at the same telephone number.

“Please be patient with our staff as we work to correct any problems,” McLeod said. “We’ve worked very hard to make this return to the sport and we’ve had loyal employees who stayed with us through some difficult times. They will do their absolute best to answer all questions and help our company regain its solid reputation.”
