NASCAR Veteran Mark Green And Son Tyler Lean On Each Other For Racing Success

CONCORD, N.C. (June 16, 2011) – Mark Green may be a veteran NASCAR
Nationwide Series driver, but he will rely on his son, Tyler’s Legend Car
expertise for a successful season in the Summer Shootout Series at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Tyler is a fourth-generation driver following in the tire tracks of
not only his father but his grandfather and great-grandfather as well. He
also relies heavily on the experience his family’s racing background offers,
specifically the opportunities his father has provided for him. As Father’s
Day approaches, Tyler is conscious of the impact his father has made on his
racing career.

“I’ve only driven for my father and he and I are the only ones that
have ever touched our racecars,” said Tyler. “He has provided everything
I’ve had in racing and all the experience I’ve gained has been because of
him.”

As his father’s biggest fan from day one, Tyler grew up going to
various racetracks and eventually began spotting for Mark in the NASCAR
Nationwide Series. When Tyler wanted to pursue his own career in racing, his
dad was supportive and helped him any way he could.

“To see Tyler’s face when he succeeds is my favorite part,” said
Mark. “I know how much it means to not just have success, but to enjoy that
success.”

While Tyler has a strong passion for driving, he also enjoys working
for some of the biggest names in racing. Tyler spots for NASCAR Nationwide
Series driver, Aric Almirola, on the weekends and recently took a fabricator
position at JR Motorsports.

Mark believes that Legend Car racing has taught Tyler how to be
successful in more than just a racecar.

“Tyler’s racing has taught him a great deal about the respect,
sacrifices and hard work it will take to be successful in his new position
at JR Motorsports,” said the elder Green.

Tyler is entering his 11th season racing in the Summer Shootout
Series and hopes to defend his Legend Car Pro division title.

“My championship last year took a lot of pressure off of us, but we
always strive to do better,” said Tyler. “It seems like everyone has upped
the bar this year and gained speed. We need to find where to get the
advantage back we had last year.”

This season will be a little different for the father-son duo as
Mark will climb behind the wheel of a Legend Car in the Masters division.

“Tyler is at that age where he doesn’t need as much help, so I
figured I would have time to jump in a car,” said Mark. “I’ve only driven a
couple times and Tyler is already on me about what to do and what not to
do.”

When Mark and Tyler aren’t teaching each other how to drive, they
enjoy golfing and racing remote control cars together. They typically spend
Father’s Day somewhere at a racetrack, however, this weekend, they plan to
spend time with family and grill out.

The Green family of drivers are not strangers to the racing industry
or to the Summer Shootout Series. Along with Mark and Tyler, Mark’s brother
and 2000 NASCAR Nationwide Series champion, Jeff Green will race in Masters,
and Austin Green, son of 1994 NASCAR Nationwide Series champion David Green,
will compete in the Bandolero Bandits division.

“The old story that racing brings family together is 100 percent
true,” said Mark.
