Miller Lite Slinger Nationals Preview

The 28th annual Miller Lite Nationals will be run on July 17th at the exciting Slinger Super Speedway.
NASCAR Star Kyle Busch, Wisconsin Legend Dick Trickle and a host of other Miller Lite Nationals Contenders will be testing Monday July 16th from 10 am to 4 pm in preparation for the 28th annual Slinger Nationals. This is an open test and drivers will be available to the media from 11:00 am to Noon. The grand stands will open to the public at no charge.
Other NASCAR stars planning to compete are Scott Wimmer and Erik Darnell. Wimmer and Darnell are just a few of the latest entries to join Matt Kenseth and Kyle Busch to race in the 28th Annual Miller Lite Slinger Nationals. Wimmer is one of the hottest drivers in the NASCAR Busch series recently finishing second at Milwaukee. Wimmer will drive the family owned number 25 car. Darnell also has been hot this summer, picking up his first NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series win along with two RE-MAX /ARCA wins. Erik will be driving defending Slinger Speedway Track Champion and former Nationals winner David Prunty?s second car. Erik say?s, ?it?s going to be a lot of fun to get into David?s car, he is the one to beat at Slinger right now?.
Scott Wimmer and Erik Darnell join defending Slinger Nationals Champion Matt Kenseth as the list of talented drivers continues to build for this year?s event. Steve Carlson and Eric Fransen also have added their names added to the list that will be chasing the Larry Detjens Cup for winning the Nationals. Carlson one of the winningest short track racers in Country has never raced at Slinger Speedway, while Fransen has logged 1000?s of laps with numerous wins on the famed high banks. Always exciting Kyle Busch will be on the card along with former Slinger Nationals Champions, Dick Trick, Rich Bickle, David Prunty, Conrad Morgan, Lowell Bennett, Brad JJ Mueller, and Tony Strupp.

His father, Bill, was a movie photographer that shot racing footage at tracks such as the Milwaukee Mile and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in the 1960’s and 1970’s Steve’s first professional job in racing was as an Emergency Medical Technician at tracks such as Angell Park and Hales Corners Speedway (1988-1991). Steve has also worked for the Milwaukee Mile as videographer, in media relations and historian (1993-2011). Steve also has worked as a reporter for Racing Information Systems (RIS) and has written features for ‘Vintage Oval Racing’ and ‘Victory Lane’ magazines.
