Indy Drivers Join Milwaukee Police On Ride

Milwaukee, Wis., May 21—The Milwaukee Police Department bicycle officers had
the chance for a different kind of ride-along on today in downtown Milwaukee.

Izod IndyCar Series drivers Ryan Hunter-Reay, Josef Newgarden and Bryan Clauson
all three in the starting field for Sunday’s 96th annual Indianapolis 500 were
in town promoting the June 15-16 Milwaukee IndyFest 225 at the Milwaukee Mile.

After a press conference discussing the upcoming “500” and Milwaukee race the
three along with six MPD bicycle officers from the Neighborhood Task Force,
Districts 1 and 2 took a patrol ride starting at the Police Administration
Building in downtown Milwaukee. They rode on bicycles through downtown, stopping
at the Chase Bank Plaza, Red Arrow Park, through the Third Ward and into the
residential area of District 2 on the near South Side.

“This is a neat chance to ride with the police, I’m also looking forward to
returning to Milwaukee in a few weeks” commented Hunter-Reay who won at the
track in 2004.
