?Hines Family Night? 33-Lappers Wednesday At New Castle

SCHIFF, FITZPATRICK, CLOUSER TOPS AT OREGON
RAIN FORCES PLYMOUTH CANCELATION

The United States Auto Club will salute the Hines racing family from New Castle, Ind. this Wednesday when the ?Wednesday Night Thunder? program presented by the Richard Petty Driving Experience competes at New Castle?s Mount Lawn Speedway. The evening is dedicated to racers Jim, Tracy and Ted Hines and the rest of the Hines family, which has meant so much to the sport and to USAC.

Wednesday?s feature events are 33 laps each, which includes an extra lap each in honor of Jim, Ted and Tracy and the events will award points toward this year?s ?Adam Petty Trophy.?

USAC ?tripleheaders? last week were scheduled at Plymouth, Ind. and Oregon, Wisc. but rains forced cancellation of the ?Wednesday Night Thunder? races at Plymouth.

Saturday?s winners at Madison International Speedway in Oregon, Wisc. were Zach Schiff of Dublin, Ohio (Regional Midget), Blake Fitzpatrick of Terre Haute, Ind. (Kenyon Midget) and Mario Clouser of Auburn, Ill. (Midwest Ford Focus).

Schiff passed Brent Beauchamp on lap 11 and led the last 20 laps of the Regional midget race in his Beast Racing/Key Bank Beast/Ford. Kenny Biro took second ahead of Beauchamp, James Robertson and Ricky Ehrgott. The Midget race was held on the track?s 1/2-mile oval.

The Ford Focuses and Kenyon Midgets competed on the smaller oval, with Fitzpatrick taking the lead from Drew Charlson on the seventh lap of the Kenyon feature in his Fitzpatrick Funeral Home/Forsythe Racing Yamaha. Kyle Hamilton finished second, followed by Jacob Wilson, Jeff Wimmenauer and Charlson. Clouser led all 30 laps of the Midwest Ford Focus feature in his Illinois Corn Marketing Board Beast to beat Tyler Irwin, Craig Haack, Chett Gehrke and James Robertson.
