Danica Moves Forward

It’s been almost a week and still, everyone is talking about it. It’s on the internet for all to see. If you didn’t catch it live, just a quick search will find it.

After contact with Ryan Briscoe on pit lane, Danica Patrick’s car bounces off the wall and spins out of the Indianapolis 500. A determined Patrick is seen walking down pit road on her way towards Briscoe and his team.

What actually would have happened, had she reached Briscoe’s pit stall, will have to remain left to our imagination and opinion. As other pit crews gather on the wall to watch, she is directed behind the wall one pit stall away from her intended target. Add this footage to the reel of video showing a driver that absolutely hates it when things don’t go as planned and is not afraid to show her emotion.

This weekend, Patrick returns to the site of another confrontation. Last year, it was Dan Wheldon that drew her ire. In the 2007 race at the Milwaukee Mile, Patrick felt that Wheldon cut down on her during the race, causing damage to her car and preventing her from challenging for the win.

So, what happens now? Can she put those issues and feelings behind her as she prepares for the 225 mile race on Sunday at the Milwaukee Mile?

According to Patrick, everything is put behind her not too long after the race.

“For an hour or two after (the race) your adrenaline is up,” Patrick explained. “You’re thinking about it, you’re talking, you’re debriefing the whole thing and that’s the same pretty much every weekend.”

“Every incident is it’s own and I react to each situation as it comes up”, Patrick continued. “Every single time we hit the track, there is the possibility that someone does something that disappoints you and that you question. And, for the most part almost every weekend it does happen. As a racecar driver, we go on to the next event, and all we are concerned about is performing at that next event. I defiantly forget the weekend before pretty quickly.”

So that is Patrick’s plan as she and 26 other drivers prepare to race at the Milwaukee Mile in the ABC Supply Co./ A.J. Foyt 225 on Sunday afternoon.

Patrick concluded, “I’m quickly moving on to Milwaukee, that was last weekend and this is this weekend.”
