Couter Wins ARCA Bill France Four Crown Award

Joliet, Ill., Aug. 26 – With his eighth place finish in the Ansell Protective Gloves 150 ARCA Racing Series event at Chicagoland Speedway, Joey Coulter captured the Bill France Four Crown Award.

The award recognizes overall success on the various types of tracks the ARCA Racing series competes on each year.

Points toward the award are based on the finish of each driver in each event, with the points being the same as those awarded for each race position.

The points are accrued at each of four events run in August, each of which are run on a different type of race course.

The four races that comprised this year’s competition were the Aug, 7 short track event at Berlin (Mich.) Raceway, the road course event at New Jersey Motorsports Park on Aug. 15, the event on the dirt oval at the Illinois State Fairgrounds Aug. 22 and tonight’s event at Chicagoland Speedway, a superspeedway event.

ARCA president, Ron Draeger, commented on the importance of the award: “The Bill France Four Crown Award speaks to the very nature of the ARCA Racing Series. Being the full-bodied stock car series that runs on speedways, road courses, short tracks and dirt ovals, this is the epitome of what our series is about.”

Coulter went into tonight’s race with a 25-point advantage over Tom Hesset and finished the night winning the award by a 10-point margin over tonight’s race winner, Patrick Sheltra.
