China Is Over, But What Will Happen In Bahrain?

One day after the grand prix in
China, the 2013 formula one world championship has already began off to a great
start, with three different winners , in three races. Not bad, considering that
it might mean that the world championship itself could be closer than it has
been in years.

However, the recent race in China has already meant
that Ferrari especially after all the work during the winter, finally has paid
off sooner than the previous season. For Fernando Alonso, winning his first
race in many months, the last at Hockenheim in 2012, means now that the Spanish
matador can take the fight to whomever challenges him for the title. So, at
least for now, Alonso has a car that can do the job.

If Alonso is beginning to have success, then Mark
Webber must be wondering how he can get some of the good luck that has been on
the side of the Spaniard. For the Australian, things began to get worse when
his teammate passed him in Malaysia when he was told to hold back while in the
lead. And then in China, one of his rear wheels come off and retires him from
the race. Could this be some of his teammates out to get him or is it just bad
luck? One thing is for sure; it will be hard for Webber to go anywhere else
when his contract expires at the end of the season. So, if he can do well from
now on, it might be better to stay where he is.

Lotus and Mercedes are certainly the improving teams
so far, and Kimi Raikkonen already has taken one victory in Australia. Lewis
Hamilton has certainly improved with his new team with a recent pole plus a
second in Malaysia and a third place in China, so since everyone on his team
seems to be on the bandwagon with the Englishman, it seems that he will be the
one to watch, not his German teammate Nico Rosberg.

Finally, the last of the “fly away” races are over
until late September when the only night race of the year is run in Singapore.

And this coming week is Bahrain, which has had several protests for the last
two years against the government, who highly sponsors the race. With one of the
grands prix in 2011, being canceled off the calendar, last year’s race was run
under heavy security, with protesters in full force again. Will this year bring
more? Many will just have to find out this week as the race there is the completion
of the first three races around the globe in spring before returning to Europe
after a three week rest.
