Breaking News – Kyle Busch to Joe Gibbs Racing

Several media outlets including ESPN and Sirius Radio’s Dave Moody has reported that Kyle Busch will be driving the #18 Interstate Batteries car for Joe Gibbs Racing in 2008. It is rumoured to be a multi-year aggreement. Former USAC Champ, J.J. Yeley will move over to drive the #21 Wood Brothers/JTG Racing. Moody reported that Yeley?s agent, Kyle Chapman, said there is currently no signed deal between his client and Wood Brothers/JTG Racing, and that Yeley is in discussion with a number of teams about possible rides for next season. But sources with knowledge of the situation say Yeley will indeed be out of the #18 next season, and behind the wheel of the #21 Ford

An official announcement is expected within the next 2-3 weeks.

Gibbs Drops Chevrolet
In addition, Joe Gibbs Racing will join the Toyota camp beginning in 2008. Gibbs will be the newest Toyota team joining Michael Waltrip Racing, Bill Davis Racing and Team Red Bull. Neither Busch nor Joe Gibbs Racing have made any official comment on the move. However, Moody reported that published reports say that Gibbs officials have informed Hall of Fame Racing that they will not continue to provide the team with engines next season, prompting Hall Of Fame to contact Richard Childress Racing about a similar engine-supply deal for 2008. HOF spokesman Joe Crowley said today that there is no truth to those reports.

Carpentier Gets Rewarded
Former Champ Car star Patrick Carpentier will be announced today as the driver of Gillett-Evernham Racing’s #10 Valvoline/Stanley Tools Dodge this weekend at Watkins Glen. Carpentier will replace Scott Riggs on at least a one-race basis. Excellent news for the Canadian who drove an excellent race finishing second to Kevin Harvick in Montreal in his first NASCAR Busch Series race.
