Biffle Leads First Practice For Allstate 400 At The Brickyard

Speedway, IN – Greg Biffle was at the top of the charts after the first practice session at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Friday. Turning a lap at 177.075mph, with his Roush Fenway Racing Ford in qualifying trim, put Biffle’s number 16 on top of the scoring pylon. Biffle’s last lap on the track during the session was his fastest.
2002 Brickyard winner, Bill Elliott was the quickest of the cars that need to qualify on time. Elliot’s lap at 176.547 put him in third at the end of the session.
With the tire issues that plagued last year’s race. Some of the teams spent the session focusing on race runs and early indications were that the problems with the tires last year are a thing of the past.
A second practice session is scheduled for a little later today. Qualifying for the 2009 Allstate 400 at the Brickyard takes place Saturday morning with two more practice sessions later in the day. The Allstate 400 At The Brickyard will drop the green flag at 2:20pm EST on Sunday, July 26th.
