A Familiar Indy Car Name Returns To The Mile
- Updated: June 16, 2011
A familiar Indy car name returns to the track — behind the wall — at the Milwaukee Mile this weekend and a new Wisconsin sponsor joins it for the USAC Silver Crown event.
The late Eddie Sachs started 26 races in the USAC midget, Indy car and stock car divisions from 1956-63, scoring top fives in five of 11 Indy car starts here, had two stock car victories and got another win in an Indy car qualifying race.
His son, Eddie Jr., debuts his ownership of a new Silver Crown team here with five-time Indianapolis 500 veteran and past Phoenix Silver Crown winner Jimmy Kite in the saddle.
The team is sponsored by Uline, which recently relocated its headquarters to Pleasant Prairie near Kenosha. Uline is a leading distributor of shipping, industrial and packaging materials to businesses throughout North America and has 2,600 employees nationwide. Part of the sponsorship of Sachs Racing is to encourage applications to staff the new headquarters facility. Courtesy of Jan Shaffer
