Elkhart Lake, WI – Ricky Taylor topped the charts with a 1 minute 53.058 second run around the four plus mile natural terrain road course at Road America to capture the pole for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race. The Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac DPI will lead the field to the green flag on Sunday for the eighth series race of the season for the Prototype division.

After winning the first five races of the season, Ricky and brother Jordan Taylor have been left out of victory lane for the last two races.

“Of course, we had a fright the last 2 weekends, on saw how fast we can lose points”, said Taylor. “But starting up front with the clean air, no one to fight with at the moment. Obviously we will once the race starts, but yes. But now we need to start thinking about the championship, that’s the big goal.”

Jordan Taylor had set the second quickest lap in the final practice earlier in the morning. Taylor’s time was eclipsed by Ryan Dalziel who toured the track in 1:53.851, the quickest run in all practice sessions, in his Nissan DPI. Scott Sharp qualified the Nissan in third with a time of 1:54.088. Jose Gutierrez will start on the outside of the front row in the Ligier LMP2.

“The car was beautiful today”, said Jordan Taylor. “The team just really executed and gave me a really good qualifying car. This is only one lap and we have 15 minutes to do it. I think tomorrow is going to be a different story there are so many really good cars.”

In the GTLM division, Dirk Mueller scored the pole in the Ford GT. Ganassi teammate Ryan Briscoe was second in his Ford GT and the BMW M6 GTLM driven by Alexander Sims was third quickest.

James French matched his co-driver Patricio O’Ward’s speed in practice and won the pole for the PC division.

The GTD pole was won by Jeroen Mul in the Lamorghini Huracan GT3.

Sunday’s Continental Tire Road Race Showcase event will see the green flag fly at 1:35pm CT. The race is scheduled to run two hours and forty minutes.
