ELKHART LAKE, Wis., August 26, 2015 – Alex Tagliani scored the pole position for Saturday’s 7th Annual Road America 180 Fired Up by Johnsonville. The Team Penske Ford driver toured the four plus mile track in 2 minutes and 12.641 seconds in the final round of qualifying to take the honor of leading the field to the green tomorrow.

Michael McDowell, who set a track record in the opening round, will start on the outside of the front row in his Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet.

Mid-Ohio winner Justin Marks qualified third and Australian road racer Owen Kelly will start alongside on the second row in fourth. Rookie Daniel Suarez qualified in the fifth position.

Filling the top ten are: Ty Dillon, Ryan Reed, Bredan Gaughan, Blake Koch and rookie Erik Jones.

McDowell led the first session with a track record lap of 110.377mph, followed by Tagliani, Kelly, Reed and Marks. 2014 winner Gaughan, Suarez, Jones, Dillon, Koch, Justin Allgaier and rookie Brennan Poole filled out the field of twelve drivers who transferred to the second round. Both Alon Day and Josh Bilicki had incidents bringing out the red flag and stopping the clock during the session.

The previous track record was set by Nelson Piquet Jr. in 2012 with a lap of 109.516mph.

The 45 lap Road America 180 Fired Up by Johnsonville is scheduled to see the green flag fly at 2:00pm CST on Saturday.
