SAKIR, Bahrain- After having to see his teammate win the first two poles of the season, Nico Rosberg turned the tables late Saturday evening as the German recorded a 1::33:185 fastest time to take the top grid spot for Sunday’s Grand Prix of Bahrain. Lewis Hamilton finished second, while considering he will suffer a ten grid penalty, Daniel Riccirado finished his Red Bull in third.

“Things just seemed to work out well throughout the weekend,” claimed Rosberg afterwards. ” Some of the practice sessions were very hot, but it is just something you have to guess when you are setting up the car. But it is great to start from pole.

Many have realized that this track will continue to have a night race after so much great publicity this week, but it seemed to have even more approval from Hamilton and Rosberg, who with eight minutes to go in the opening session, had the fastest times. But only six minutes later, Valterri Bottas put his Williams up at the top, quickly followed by Nico Hulkenberg, who with his Force India entry grabbed the fastest time of 1:34:874, to win the first session. Pastor Maldonado and Adrian Sutil were eliminated as well as the two Caterham and Marussia drivers.

But considering that he was outdone in the first session, Hamilton got right back into the thick of things by setting the fastest time of 1:33:872. However, it was short lived as Rosberg tooped it with a 1:33:708 better time that stuck for the rest of the session. The big suprise of the night was Sebastian Vettel, who failed to make it to the final session, finishing just out side the final qualifiers in 11th, as Hulkenberg and Romain Grosjean also failed to advance.

However, Rosberg continued his domination over his teammate all night, and with a final time of 1:33:185 in the final session, it breaks Hamilton’s two race streak of obtaining pole position. For the remainder of the grid, Bottas had a decent night, by taking fourth while Sergio Perez finished in fifth. Kimi Raikkonen led the Ferrari’s by ending up in sixth, while Felipe Massa was seventh. Mclaren drivers Jenson Button and Kevin Magnussen finished eighth and ninth, respectively, while Fernando Alonso rounded up the grid in the second Ferrari in tenth.

Considering his well earned pole, Rosberg always had a good results record here, and the German even approved on this statement.

” This is the track where I had my first race, and I have always liked it here.” he concluded.
