Robinson Racing Set For 2015 Trans Am Season

The Foametix Trans Am 100 kicks of the season at Sebring International Raceway

Milford, Michigan – February 25, 2015 – The Robinson Racing team will compete in the Foametix Trans Am 100 at the legendary Sebring International Raceway in Sebring, Florida, on Sunday, March 1, 2015. With two Chevrolet Camaros in the TA2 Class sponsored by the 74 Ranch Resort, Robinson Racing is based in Milford, Michigan and employs drivers Gar Robinson and Shane Lewis for the full 2015 Trans Am season.

A renowned endurance racer, Shane Lewis’ extensive resume includes race victories in championships throughout the world including the American Le Mans Series, the European Le Mans Series, the Rolex Sports Car Series, SCCA World Challenge, Continental Challenge, VLN and the World 24hr Series. In 2013, Lewis claimed victories in the prestigious Rolex 24 at Daytona and the Dunlop 24H Dubai. Lewis was awarded the Dick Moroso Memorial Award at the Palm Beach Country Sports Commission’s 38th Annual Palm Beach County Sports Hall of Fame awards ceremony in 2014.

“I am really excited to get this season started — and even more so after our first shake down test at Sebring last week,” noted Lewis. “The team has worked so hard up in the cold country of Michigan to get these two cars ready. Although I have many years of endurance racing experience, this is actually my first ever Trans Am race.”

Joining Shane Lewis is teammate Gar Robinson, son of former Trans Am driver George Robinson, who ran 46 races from 1988 to 1994 with one victory, eight top-five appearances and 24 top-ten showings. Gar Robinson competed in the final three races of the 2014 Trans Am Championship, finishing an impressive fourth place in each race of the TA2 Class.

“It’s really fun teaming up with Shane,” said Gar Robinson. “Shane is leaning on me for my past experience in last year’s Trans Am events, to get him up to speed. He’s now the rookie on the team!”

Robinson Racing conducted a private testing session at Sebring International Raceway last week, in preparation for the 2015 Trans Am Season. For images from the test session, visit www.Facebook.com/RobinsonRacingTeam.

When the Trans Am Series takes to the track at Sebring International Raceway on Sunday, March 1, 2015, for the Foametix Trans Am 100, it will do so with a complement of more than 70 cars — the largest to ever start a Trans Am race, breaking a 48-year-old record set at Sebring in 1967. The Foametix Trans Am 100 at Sebring International Raceway will be broadcast on the CBS Sports Network on Tuesday, March 17 at 8:00 p.m. EST.
