Rain Washes Out TUDOR Qualifying At Watkins Glen

By Joe Jennings

Watkins Glen, N. Y. – All-day rain and at times downpours washed out qualifications for Sunday’s Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen, the sixth TUDOR United SportsCar Championship event of the season.

The starting order for the 34th running of the third-longest race of the season will be based on championship points with Christian Fittipaldi and Joao Barbosa and their Action Express Racing Corvette DP leading the way.

“Obviously, I can’t complain but at same time, I think the right decision was made based on amount of rain we had today,” Fittipaldi said. “You want to start up front but you can win this race from the pits, as it is a long race. Our car is very strong and in one way, I would like to have qualified to see how strong our car is. Tomorrow will be a long day in the office, and we will give it our best.”

Running on the 11-turn, 3.4-mile road course, ten sleek Prototypes, seven Prototype Challenge cars, and eight GT LeMans and 11 GT Daytona entries will comprise the starting field.

The 36-car field will take the green flag at 10:10 a.m. ET. FOX Sports 1 and FOX Sports 2 will broadcast the race with a replay on FOX Sports 1 on July 5 at 1 p.m.
