Pura Vida Spirits Company Announces New Motorsports Division: Pura Vida Tequila Racing

Pura Vida Tequila Race Car to Debut at Detroit Grand Prix

HOUSTON, Texas (May 25, 2016) – Pura Vida Spirits Company proudly announces the launch of Pura Vida Tequila Racing, its new motorsports division competing in the Trans Am Series, America’s road racing series celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2016. The spirits company, best known for its smooth 100% blue agave craft tequila and authentic Mexican orange liqueur known as NARANJA, will sponsor the record-setting Robinson Racing team with two freshly wrapped Chevrolet Camaros for the remainder of 2016 and for the 2017 Trans Am Season.

Driven by the 2015 Trans Am TA2 Champion Gar Robinson, the No. 74 Pura Vida Tequila / 74 Ranch Resort Chevrolet Camaro will make its racing debut at the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix in Michigan on June 3-5, 2016, with brand-new livery featuring Pura Vida Tequila and Spirits, Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, Sully Erna of Godsmack, and alcohol savings app bevRAGE. Practice and qualifying for the Trans Am invitational races will be held on Friday, June 3. The green flag will drop at 8:55 am ET on Saturday, June 4 for the first race and at 11:40 am ET on Sunday, June 5 for the second race.

Robinson Racing also campaigns the No. 72 Pura Vida Tequila / 74 Ranch Resort Chevrolet Camaro driven by Shane Lewis, renowned for his victories in many of the world’s premier 24-hour sports car races. The No. 72 Camaro, in its new livery to match the No. 74, will be unveiled at New Jersey Motorsports Park during the Weekend of Thunder featuring the Trans Am Series, June 11-12, 2016, in Millville, New Jersey.

On Saturday, July 2, 2016 at 12:00 pm ET, CBS Sports Network will air the Motor City 100, a 90-minute special on the two Trans Am invitational races in the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix. The program will be hosted by long-time racing broadcaster Rick Benjamin and commentator Michael McDowell, a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver. The CBS Sports Network segment will mark the first television appearance of the newly branded No. 74 Pura Vida Tequila / 74 Ranch Resort Chevrolet Camaro.

This sponsorship will make Pura Vida Tequila the only liquor brand sponsor in the Trans Am Series. The partnership between the two Texan owners – tequila tycoon Stewart Skloss, Chairman of Pura Vida Spirits Company, and the owner of Robinson Racing and former racer George Robinson – hopes to promote responsible drinking and responsible driving in both industries.

“Our electric blue looks absolutely stunning on the freshly wrapped Camaros and will look even better when they’re speeding by on the track! We can’t wait to unveil them in Detroit and to be on tour with the Robinson Racing team,” said Stewart Skloss, Chairman and CEO of Pura Vida Spirits Company. “We are so proud to team up with the Robinson family and excited to be the only liquor sponsor in Trans Am. We’ll definitely be bringing the party to the track for our spectators in each city and, of course, to celebrate our star drivers after the races.”

You can watch the team compete for the 2016 Trans Am Championship at the following 10 events:

“Robinson Racing is happy to announce a great partnership with Pura Vida Tequila, El Primero Uno – the best tequila on the market,” noted George Robinson, owner of Robinson Racing. “Although we are going to miss the familiar Robinson Racing orange and blue livery, which our fans have associated with us and our race cars for the last three decades, we are excited to now trade orange for green – and continue in the hunt for a second Championship in the Trans Am Series.”

The winning gene races through the blood of the Robinson family. Team owner George Robinson, Gar Robinson’s father and former Trans Am driver, holds one victory, 8 top-five appearances and 24 top-ten showings within 46 races between 1988 and 1994. George Robinson also raced in IMSA (International Motor Sports Association), Grand-Am, and ALMS (American Le Mans Series), with 3 class wins at the 12 Hours of Sebring plus a Championship in the Ferrari Challenge.
