Provisional Schedule Announced For Ford Racing Mustang Challenge For The Miller Cup

ORLANDO, FLA. (December 6, 2007) ? Today at the 20th annual Performance Racing Industry (PRI) Show at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla., series officials of the Ford Racing Mustang Challenge for the Miller Cup presented by BFGoodrich Tires announced a provisional schedule of events for the series? inaugural season in 2008.

The eight-event schedule will open at Road Atlanta in Braselton, Ga., over the weekend of May 2-4, in conjunction with Historic Sportscar Racing Ltd.?s Walter Mitty Challenge, sponsored by Mazda and presented by Classic Motorsports magazine, along with the SCCA Pro Racing Playboy Mazda MX-5 Cup. From there, the series will head north of the border to historic Mosport International Raceway in Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada, over the weekend of June 13-15 for the Father?s Day Doubleheader Weekend, which includes the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series and the KONI Challenge Series.

The series? thundering herd of Mustangs will take to the ultra-fast tarmac at Burke Lakefront Airport in Cleveland, Ohio, the following weekend, June 20-22, as part of the Cleveland Grand Prix featuring the Champ Car World Series and SCCA Pro Racing Playboy Mazda MX-5 Cup. One month later, over the weekend of July 18-20, the series will head south to beautiful Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Ala., for the Porsche 250 weekend featuring the Rolex Sports Car Series and KONI Challenge Series.

The next confirmed date is the weekend of August 29-31, when the series will visit America?s newest road racing facility, New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville, N.J., along with the Rolex Sports Car Series and KONI Challenge Series.

The inaugural season of the Ford Racing Mustang Challenge for the Miller Cup presented by BFGoodrich Tires will come to a close at the site of the series? birth, Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah, with a double-header season finale over the weekend of September 19-21 as part of the Sunchaser 1000 weekend featuring the Rolex Sports Car Series, KONI Challenge Series and SCCA Pro Racing Playboy Mazda MX-5 Cup.

?Although we are still in negotiations with some circuits to complete our schedule from the middle of July through the end of August,? said Series Director Lynda Randall, ?we wanted to take this opportunity to release as much information as possible to our competitors and fans. We?re very excited about these events and the quality and variety of circuits that we will visit in our inaugural season should provide some great battles for our race teams and Mustang enthusiasts throughout North America.

?Ending the season with a double-header finale at Miller Motorsports Park is going to create a thrilling showdown scenario at the series? ?home track,? and we?ll cap it off with a banquet at the Miller Motorsports Park Club House to celebrate the winners.?

The Ford Racing Mustang Challenge for the Miller Cup presented by BFGoodrich Tires will be an eight-round series utilizing the new Ford Mustang FR500S fitted with BFGoodrich g-Force R1 tires. The series, which will be sanctioned by the Grand American Road Racing Association, will consist of eight races during the 2008 season. A television package will be announced in the near future.
