With one flying lap to close out the morning practice session, the IndyCar Grand Prix defending champion Will Power ascended to the top of the speed chart.
Following a red flag for his Team Penske teammate Helio Castroneves’s car stopping on track, Power had just enough time left in the session to make one lap and he made it count, touring the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course at a speed of 126.721mph.
Ed Carpenter Racing’s Spencer Pigot was the driver at the top of the charts prior to Power’s last lap and had to settle for second quick.
Chip Ganassi Racing teammates Scott Dixon and Felix Rosenqvist clocked in third and forth respectively.
Team Penske driver Josef Newgarden was fifth.
The top ten in this session was completed by Ryan Hunter-Reay, Zach Veach, Simon Pagenaud, Takuma Sato and Alexander Rossi.
One more practice session remains prior to qualifying later this afternoon for the 2019 IndyCar Grand Prix.
