Pomona Proves To Be A Challenging Track

Newport Beach, CA (August 16, 2008)-Kyle LeDuc was the champion in the Pro 4 race at Round 9 of the 2008 Championship Off Road Racing Season, held at the Fairplex in Pomona, CA. Broadcasting live on SPEED, LeDuc led a thrilling race complete with black flags and plenty of carnage.

Starting on the pole, Rockstar/Makita/Kal-Gard LeDuc had Lucas Oil /Skyjacker Carl Renezeder nipping at his mud flaps for the first few laps. The two battled it out until turn five, lap eight when Renezeder attempted to make the pass around LeDuc. Renezeder got into LeDuc forcing him into the wall. Renezeder was black flagged for rough driving. In another move warranting a black flag, Amsoil/Kumho Scott Douglas got into Johnny Greaves who was running in second position. Monster Energy Drink’s Greaves lost four spots falling to sixth. Door slamming and rubbing by the pack allowed LeDuc a large lead, Fabtech/Toyota Rick Huseman claimed second place, and Rockstar/Makita Curt LeDuc, rounded out the podium. The race ended with an incredible crash as Johnny Greaves twisted six times after being hit by another racer.

In the Pro 2 class Todd LeDuc led most of the race, but with less than seven laps to go he made an error that cost him the win. LeDuc went sideways coming out of the bowl in turn four and lost control, opening the window for Rob MacCachren to pass. Rockstar Energy/BFGoodrich MacCachren took the win while LeDuc finished in second and Skyjacker’s Scott Taylor, finished in third. Jeremy McGrath ended up finishing in 19th place after his power steering line burst and fluid caught on fire in lap six.

The track was slick as the Pro Lite race got off to a start. Having blown an engine in qualifying, points leader Jeff Kincaid started the race in the back of the pack, but was able to work his way up to 7th position. After the mandatory yellow Robert Naughton spun out ending his chance at the win. BOSS Plow/Kumho/Amsoil’s Chad Hord dominated the race and finished first, with Marty Hart and Bully Dog’s Casey Currie rounding out the podium. “It felt awesome. I saw them watering the track. That’s my track [when it’s wet],” said Hord after his win.

The Pro Buggy race finished under a yellow flag as Larry Foddrill pulled off his first win of the season. The race was fraught with restarts and yellow cautions as buggies were flipping, sliding, and hitting all over the track. Foddrill was joined on the podium by Menzies Motorsports’ Larry Job and Number 915, Jay Halsey.
