Memphis International Raceway Opening This Weekend

Millington, TN (February 20, 2014) Memphis International Raceway is excited to announce the 2014 Season opens this Saturday, February 22,  2014. On tap for the kickoff weekend is the always popular Test N Tune and the 1st of a 14-race series in the 2014 Summit Bracket Racing Series presented by COMP Cams.

Opening weekend schedule includes:

Test N Tune – February 22, 2014

Test and Tune sessions are open to all makes and models. Bring your favorite car or bike to MIR and see what it can run in the quarter-mile. (Vehicles must pass a tech inspection and racers must have a valid driver’s license.)

Gates open at 11:30 AM, Track Runs from 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM, Admission: $10 Spectator, $20 Racer, Children 12 & under FREE

Summit Bracket Racing Series presented by COMP Cams – February 23, 2014:

As the season kicks off, MIR would like to thank those that make the 14-race series possible.  It is the commitment and dedicated support of our partners that invest in the program that allow MIR to continue to grow racing in the Mid-South.

The Summit Bracket Racing Series presented by COMP Cams culminates with the naming of Track Champion in each class and the bid to participated in the 2014 IHRA Team Finals in October.  The best of the best will compete to represent Team Memphis in October.   Defending Class Champions are:  Super Pro:  Rusty Ashmore; Footbrake:   David Ciarloni; R. T. Turbines D.O.T. Street:  Cliff Hubbard and R. T. Turbines Junior Dragster:   Justin Poindexter.

Gates open at 9:00 AM Time Trials begin at 11:00 AM , Entry/Admission:  Rick’s Powder Coating Super Pro (Electronics) – $50 entry, B & B Towing Pro/Footbrake (No Box) – $40 entry, R.T. Turbines D.O.T. Street – $35 entry, R.T. Turbines JR Dragster – $25 entry, Spectator & Crew – $10, Children 12 and under FREE

“It’s going to be a great weekend as we are able to getting racing back under way at Memphis International Raceway, its been a long, cold winter and MIR will heat up the track this weekend and get racing underway for 2014,” said Paul Cartwright, Director of Race / Facility Operations.  Cartwright went on to say “I’m excited to get the season started and also looking forward to working with recently hired, Drag Strip Manager, Tyler Crossnoe.”
