Fifty Plus Racing Hopes For A Good Run At Sebring

SEBRING, Fla., March 20 — With four solid practice sessions under their belts, Fifty Plus Racing’s four drivers are ready for the start of the 63rd annual Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Fueled by Fresh from Florida Saturday at 10:40 a.m. In addition to being a jewel of the Tudor United SportsCar Championship, the race is the second event in the four-race Tequila Patrón North American Endurance Cup.

“Things are going great!” said Jim Pace of Ridgeland, Miss., who set the entry’s fastest lap so far here in the very first practice session on Thursday with a time of 1:59.127 for the 3.74-mile, 17-turn road course.

“We didn’t go out for qualifying because we changed our practice engine for our race engine today, and we didn’t get the change completed and the car through tech before qualifying,” Pace said Friday evening. The team will run a systems check and make its final adjustments during a 20-minute warm-up session Saturday morning.

“It’s a long race, and we’re hoping for a solid result,” Pace added. “We want to thank everyone for following along, and for making donations to the Fifty Plus Racing Foundation for Alzheimer’s research through FiftyPlusRacing.com.”

Another one of the team’s drivers, Dorsey Schroeder of Little Torch Key, Fla., was also in the 1:59-area when he ran a 1:59.741 on the car’s next-to-last lap in the second practice session on Thursday afternoon.

The car was 13th in the Prototype class in both the third and fourth practice sessions Thursday night and Friday morning, respectively, and all four drivers got acclimated to the car and the track. Along with Pace and Schroeder, the car will also be driven by car owner Byron DeFoor of Ooltewah, Tenn. and David Hinton of Clearwater, Fla., in Saturday’s race.

Heat will play a role in the race, as temperatures are expected to be in the low 90s with zero chance of rain, according to The Weather Channel.

Some of the team’s other sponsor partners include Adamia Therapeutic Repair Lotion, Contemporary, Grace Healthcare, Milkadamia and Red Rock.

Fox Sports 1 will cover the event live beginning at 10:30 a.m. Eastern time tomorrow before the coverage switches to Fox Sports 2, IMSA.com and back to Fox Sports 2 for the finish. Fox Sports 1 will then air a highlights show from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Sunday.
