Drivers Unite for Las Vegas

In the wake of this week’s national tragedy in Las Vegas, NASCAR drivers and personalities from the Las Vegas area have started a fund to help offset costs incurred by victims and their families.

A web site, www.driversforvegas.com, has been established where anyone can purchase a t-shirt, decals or make a donation to support the cause. All proceeds are being handled by the Zappos Relief Fund which in turn goes into the Direct Impact Fund that goes to families. T-shirts will cost $25 and decals are $5.

Las Vegas-based Zappos will match funds raised from the site up to $1 million.

NASCAR XFINITY Series drivers Spencer Gallagher and Brendan Gaughan met with media on Saturday morning at Charlotte Motor Speedway to discuss the fund, which has also received support from fellow Las Vegas natives Kyle Busch, Kurt Busch, Noah Gragson and Jamie Little.

“It’s really a big deal to us and it’s near and dear to our hearts,” Gallagher said.

Gaughan said the feedback his fellow drivers gave was staggering.

“To see the outpouring from the world, it’s amazing to see what we can accomplish when everyone is working together to do some good,” Gaughan said.

“What can we do? Where can we help? Life has to continue but while it is continuing, we can do a lot of good.”
