Said the three-time Glen winner, “After the re-pave, this track is a lot different (now). It is a lot faster and no more second and third gear corners. With the times dropping, they may well get faster tomorrow (during qualifying) on red tires. Weather conditions will play a big factor, too. It’s a lot of hard work and the loading is through the roof. You have no time to rest, but it has been a lot of fun.”

Helio Castroneves was second quickest at 146.111 mph and his teammate Will Power was next fastest at 146.043 mph.

Tony Kanaan spun in the final moments of the late afternoon practice, but he still had the fourth quickest speed.

Point leader Simon Pagenaud clipped a tire barrier as practice concluded. He had the 11th fastest overall speed.

In the opening practice round, Conor Daly crashed in turn 6, but his car was repaired in time for the late afternoon practice.
